Anna Lorene (Groves) Bailes, 95, of Cottageville, WV (Evergreen Hills Community) passed away September 3, 2023, at the Ravenswood Care Center.

She was born June 13, 1928, in Mount Nebo, WV, a daughter of the late Ira C. and Annie M. (Neff) Groves. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 ½ years, Gerald R. "Jack" Bailes; brothers, John, Willie and Oliver Groves; sisters, Zela Young, Viola Sebert and Mary Belle Bailes.

She was a graduate of Nicholas County High School class of 1948. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ravenswood, WV and served as a former Sunday School Teacher and member of the choir. Anna was a retired bookkeeper with 40 years of service. She was a member of the Democratic Women of Jackson County, S.O.A.R., American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Evergreen Hills C.E.O.S Club.

Survivors include her son, Gregory W. Bailes of Cottageville, WV; daughter, Mona (Rick) Epperly of Huntington, WV; sister Zada Norfleet of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Julie (Chad) Albright, Jeana (Gene Mark) Herdman and Dustin (Courtney) Epperly; great-grandchildren, Levi, Katy, Jon, Duke, Jack and Susanna. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastors Toby Wagoner and Dustin Epperly officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
