Betty Jo Clendenin, 86, of Ripley, WV, passed away November 26, 2023 in Ravenswood Care Center following an extended illness.

She was born September 11, 1936, in Kenna, WV, a daughter of the late Joe and Yula (Statts) Clendenin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewayne R. Clendenin; brothers, Robert, Albert and James Clendenin; sisters, Glenndora McVay, Lenora Perry, Dixie Starcher and Judy Hudson.

She was a 1955 Graduate of Ripley High School. She was a member of Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church and loved her church and church family. She was retired from Verizon with 30 plus years of service. She was also a former employee of Cedar Lakes and the Jackson County Board of Education as a custodian. She enjoyed farming, raising her chickens and her vehicles.

Service will be 11:30 a.m. ~ Friday, December 1, 2023, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Paul Browning officiating. Burial will follow in Emma Chapel Cemetery, Liberty, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. The family would like to thank the Ravenswood Care Center for the outstanding love, care and support during this time.
