Betty Lea (Reese) Hayes , 98, of Given, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, November 15, 2021, at the Cedar Ridge Center, Sissonville, following an extended illness.

She was born December 13, 1922, in Fairmont, WV, a daughter of the late William and Nettie (Vincent) Reese. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Richard Hayes; son, Philip Ray Hayes; granddaughter, Robin Gandee, and brother, Billie Reese.

Betty was a homemaker and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Ripley. Betty's strong faith in the Lord and studying the Bible guided her through life. Alongside her faith, her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her life. She was very soft spoken, easy going, and had such a caring heart for others. Betty enjoyed reading, singing, and playing the organ.

Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Paul Hayes and his wife, Katrina of Racine, OH, Richard Hayes (Connie) of Given, Butch Hayes and his wife, Merlene of Ripley, Tommy Hayes and his wife, Lisa of Mount Sterling, KY, Kay Utterback and her husband, Jim of St. Albans; sister, Joanna Clevenger of Evans; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; one niece, Sherry Poole and one nephew, Jimmy Puccio.

Service will be 2 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2021, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Mark Mitera officiating. Burial will follow in the Given Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Friday, at the funeral home.
