Brycle Ivan Donohew, 86, of Evans, WV, passed away on January 15, 2026 after an
extended illness. He was at home, surrounded by family who loved him dearly.
He was born May 27, 1939 in Evans, WV, the son of the late Russell and Laura (Fox)
Donohew. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sibilings; brothers,
Sam Donohew, Basil Donohew, Ted Donohew, Charles (Boog) Donohew, and sisters, Reva (Bebe) Patterson, Leola Cunningham, Leone Brunty, Alveta Ervin, Dorla Donohew, and his special grandson Eric (Shanon) Payne. Brycle worked at Kaiser Aluminum for 32 years before retiring to his front porch swing and riding lawn mower. He attended Longview Community Church for the majority of his adult life, keeping the church alive even when the attendance seemed like it would never recover. In his last year, he found a home at United in Christ Church under Pastor Jack Withrow. His family will never be able to repay the kindness he was shown by their welcoming arms. Brycle was a pillar of strength for his family and Godly example to his friends and community. He never failed to help those in need and would offer his advice whether you wanted to hear it or not. Brycle never failed to lead with integrity and with his actions. He trusted God's plan for his life and encouraged everyone to do the same.
Brycle wouldn't want an obituary that didn't provide one more opportunity to share what
God has done in his life and extend an offer to meet Jesus to his family, friends, and
community. He would tell you that the only thing that matters in this life is having a
relationship with Jesus and that it has gotten him through every trial and valley he has ever walked through.To his family he was our firm foundation, rooted in Christ. His legacy will continue through the values he instilled, the faith he shared, and the lives he shaped. We take comfort in knowing he is now resting in eternal peace, hearing the words he's always longed to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Brycle is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lenora (Munsey) Donohew, his three
children Michael (Cheryl) Donohew, Larry Donohew, and Deborah (Gary) Hall.
Grandchildren: Chad (Brittney) Donohew, Jarrod Donohew, Tabitha (Dustin) Donohew, Jesse Payne, Jeremy Donohew, and Cody Donohew. And his pride and joys – his great grandchildren: Natalie Donohew, Tyler Donohew, Addyson Donohew, Lexi Donohew, Chelsea Payne, Cade Donohew, Amelia Donohew, Waylon Donohew, Saraha Donohew, Briel Donohew, Keelyn Donohew, Ryan Payne, Lucas Payne, and Clay Groves.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Casto Funeral Home with
services to follow. Pastor Jack Withrow, officiating. Burial will follow in Longview
Cemetery, Evans, WV.
