Burl Dean McCune, 83, of Cottageville, WV, (Evergreen Hills Community) passed away May 29, 2026, in Cabell-Huntington Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born March 7, 1943, in Orma, WV, a son of the late Saul and Viola (White) McCune. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Cecil McCune; sisters, Opal Summers, Pearl Cottrill, Hazel Miller, Edna Conley, Ocie McCune, Faye Richards, Mae Davisson, Ruth Summers, Daisy Shifflett and Marie Minney.

He was a United States Army veteran serving in Korea and Vietnam. He was a retired Supervisor for Hartley Manufacturing Ravenswood, WV and a former employee of Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation Ravenswood, WV. Burl, was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #5668 Ravenswood and the Carpenters Union Local #435 Cleveland, OH. He was a member of the Evergreen Hills Freewill Baptist Church, Cottageville, WV and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nadine (Tudor) McCune; sons, James D. (Sue) McCune of Cottageville, WV and Michael P. (Sara) McCune of Ripley, WV; daughter, Alonda Gail Wood of Plymouth Meeting, PA; grandchildren, J. Andrew McCune, Brianna (Caleb) Comer, Bryce McCune, Collin Wood, Jessica Wood, Dakota McCune, Nathan (Amber) Hall, Julian Chapman; great-grandchildren, Cohen McCune, Esaias Comer, Eliza Comer and Logan, Lily, Riley, Avery and Elsie Hall.; grand pup, Meeko McCune.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Burial will follow in Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville, WV, with military rites provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 11am until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
