Charlaine Lee (Lawson) Smith, 89, of Evans, WV, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, following a brief illness.
She was born January 29, 1936, in Bills Creek, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Thomas Ralph and Jessie Beatrice (Brightwell) Lawson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Nichols and three siblings, Joyce, Jimmy, and Patsy.
Charlaine had previously worked for Mrs. Smith Pie Co., Anchor Glass, and was also a school bus driver for Custers Garage in Pennsylvania. She was also a Waitress for Mrs. Whites Restaurant in South Charleston, WV. She was an avid reader and enjoyed camping and taking car rides.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Ronald Smith; children, Kenny Kent, Russell Kent, Charles Kent, Robert Kent, Cathy Swavely; sisters, Sybil McIntyre, Linda Antrim, Karen Kent; 35 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and extended family.
There will be no public services at this time.
