Charles Aden Poling, 91, of Ripley, (Gay Road Community) passed away December 9, 2024 at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division due to a sudden illness.

He was born August 20, 1933, in Amma, WV, a son of the late Edgar and Ava (Harper) Poling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rita M. (Sayre) Poling; brother, William Edgar Poling Jr.; sisters, Frances Williams and Mary Fisher.

He was a Korean Era United States Army veteran and a member of the V.F.W. Post # 5501, Ripley, WV. He was retired from Century Aluminum, Ravenswood, WV, with 37 years of service and a member of the United Steelworkers Union, Local # 5668, Ravenswood. He enjoyed the outdoors, A.T.V. riding, bowling, and roller skating. He attended Lakeview Baptist Church, Gay, WV.

Survivors include his son, Mark (Liz) Poling of Westchester County New York; daughter, Julie (Aaron) Nelson of Gay; grandchildren, Aden and Hunter Robin Poling, Christopher and Zachary Nelson.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Bill Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Parsons Cemetery, Gay, WV. Military honors will be provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12 o'clock noon until service time at the funeral home on Thursday.
