Clifford Franklin Kerwood, 95, of Cottageville, WV, passed away March 19, 2023 in Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV, following a brief illness.

He was born April 15, 1927, in Columbus, OH, a son of the late Dennis W. and Martha Jane (Donohue) Kerwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rosalie (Koontz) Kerwood; daughter, Sheila Higgs; sisters, Genevieve Hill and Velma Sayre.

He was a graduate of Ripley High School. He retired from Black Rock Construction and West Virginia Paving. He was a founding member of the United in Christ Church in Cottageville serving as Trustee, Adult Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. He was a current member of the Parchment Valley Baptist Church. He was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge # 132, Ripley, WV. He was a former President of the Jackson County Board of Education during the mid-1980s and the former Jackson County Assessor. Clifford enjoyed farming, gospel bluegrass music and computers.

Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Kerwood and Leshia (Steve) McClure both of Cottageville; grandchildren, Ashley (Cameron) Talbott of Woodbridge, VA and Joshua (Diana) McClure of New Castle P.A.; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Caiden McClure; and special cousins, Rick, Tina, Nash and Piper Davis.

Service will be 2 p.m. ~ Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastors Matt Ash and Herman Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville, WV. Visitation will be from 12 o'clock noon until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Parchment Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Casto Funeral Home, P.O.
