Clyde B. "Joe" Smith , 76, of Mount Alto, WV, passed away February 17, 2022 at Ohio State University Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born September 5, 1945 in Ripley, WV, the son of the late Clyde B. and Cornelia (Kessel) Smith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Maurice K. "Bub" Smith and sisters, Vivian Boston and Louise Hannum.

Joe was a United States Army veteran and stationed in Korea. He retired from Amirak and worked for Penn Centrail, Conrail and Norfork Southern Railroads. He was a licensed well driller in Pennsylvania and a successful real estate agent for Century 21.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Masonic Lodge, American Legion, a life member and Past Commander of the VFW Post #5049 and the vice local chariman of the United Transportation Union in Harrisburg, PA. He loved to coon hunt and turkey hunt.

Survivors include his wife, Paula H. (Harp) Smith; son, Wayne D. Smith; sisters, Ardis Shirley, Janice Shirley, Doris Strosnider and several nieces and nephews.

Private burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
