Rev. Creed Basil Pursley Sr., 88, of Ripley, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, WV, following an extended illness.

He was born November 9, 1935, in Ripley, WV, a son of the late Basil Rector and Mary (Smith) Pursley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

For many years, Creed owned and operated Pursley Builders, where he built many homes around Jackson County and surrounding areas. As Pastor, he spent several years preaching the gospel at the Risen Son Church in Ripley. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming.

Left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 67 years, Ann (Kerns) Pursley; children, Creed "Sonny" Pursley Jr. and wife, Sandra of Ripley, Cookie Milam and husband, Mike of Ripley, David Pursley and wife, Gail of Kenna, Betty Merrick and husband, Mike of Ripley, Kathy Good and husband, Danny of Cross Lanes; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery, LeRoy, WV, with Pastor Bud McVey officiating.
