Doris Jean Herdman, 74, of Cottageville, WV, was welcomed into Heaven by her Savior, Jesus Christ on June 7, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home, in her sleep as she had often said she hoped to do when her time came.

She was born February 17, 1947 in Wheeling, WV the daughter of the late Walter and Iva Mae (Bennett) Nolan. Her brothers, Bill and Jr. and sisters, Trixie, Wilma, Gean, Rosemary, Betty and Pat also preceded her in death.

Doris was a personal caregiver.

She devoted herself to loving and caring for her family. She will be missed by her faithful husband of 55 years, D.D. "Dave" Herdman; children, Dan  Herdman and family, Gene Mark Herdman and family both of Cottageville, Julia Kinder and family of Anchor Point, AK, and Pastor John Herdman and family of Gray, TN; grandchildren, Michea, Talena, Jared, Maddie, Ally and Lilly; great grandchildren, Jase and Kasen and a host of other friends and relatives whom she loved.

Dave would like to thank all the folks that have been kind to them through this time, especially the Hospice ladies whose care and compassion has been over-the-top.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday June 12, 2021 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with Pastor Bradley Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in the Sayre Cemetery, Cottageville. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
