Dorothy Jean Hopkins, 89, of Given, WV, passed away August 11, 2022, in Mountain View Care Center, Ripley, WV, following an extended illness.

She was born June 21, 1933 in Arbuckle, WV, a daughter of the late William Thurston and Louie Gray (Bailey) Sargent. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Hopkins; brothers, Junior, John, James Leo and Thurman Dwight Sargent; sister, Patty and two infant sisters.

She enjoyed her flowers and had attended the Mount Olive Church, Rock Castle, WV and Fisher Memorial Church, Kenna, WV.

Survivors include her son, Tivis E. Newsome of Given, WV; brothers, Charles, Dale, Delmas and Tracy Sargent; sister Kathern Durst.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Jerry Sargent officiating. Burial will follow in Big Pine Cemetery, Given, WV. Visitation will be Monday from 6p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
