Dwaine "Sonny" Rex Steele, 93, of Given, WV, passed away May 23, 2026 in Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV following a brief illness.

He was born August 13, 1932 in Cottageville, WV, a son of the late George Albert and Ina Muriel (Goodwin) Steele. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Frances "Sissy" Mae (Parrish) Steele; son, Jeffrey Alan Steele; grandsons, J. Ryan Monday and Christopher Wayne Steele; brothers, Bobby Gene and Charles Edward Steele; step-mother, Goldie Steele.

He was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a retired equipment operator, mechanic, truck driver and former Shop Foreman for Cedar Coal Company. Sonny was a 50 plus year member of the Ripley Lodge #16 AF&AM and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, camping, reading and tinkering.

Survivors include his sons, Ricky Wayne Steele and his wife Teresa of Hillsboro, NC, Dwaine R. Steele and his wife Shelly of Ripley, WV, Dwight R. Steele and his wife Cheryl of Hampton, VA; daughters, Cheryl Lynne Biancaniello of Ripley and Debbie Kay Monday of Leroy; grandchildren Sabrina Monday, Christy Bigley, Alexis Steele, AJ Biancaniello, Cassie Monday, Devin, Dillion, Hannah and Maddison Steele; 10 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Sonny and Sissy Steele will be 1 p.m. ~ Saturday, May 30, 2026 in Ravenswood Cemetery with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating.
