Edna Vernena Durst , 70, of Leon, WV passed away February 2, 2023 at her home while surrounded by her family.

She was born June 28, 1952 in Point Pleasant, WV the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mabel (Herdman) McDade. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Don McDade, Bob McDade, Kenny McDade, Rich McDade, Frank McDade and Charles McDade; sisters, Pauline Smith, Dean Ranke, Louise Taylor and Elsie Sayre.

Edna was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, quilting and spending time with the "kids" and neighbors. She was a Christian and had attended the Bethel Church.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Don R. Durst; daughters, Janice Durst, Shelly Keefer (C.L.) and Kristy Durst (Jeremy); brother, Marion McDade (Brenda); sister, Stella Watkins (Larry); grandchildren, Joshua Wahner, Jamie Hodges, David Foreman (Rowan), Randall Moerike and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV with Tracy Durst officiating. Private family burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Leon, WV. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
