Geraldine Marie Garnes, 86, of Evans, WV passed away June 2, 2021 at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, following an extended illness.

She was born July 19, 1934 in Evans, the daughter of the late Lester Homer and Goldie Marie (Morrison) Barnette. Her husband, James L. Garnes also preceded her in death.

Geraldine was a homemaker, and former employee of Jackson General Hospital. She and her late husband, James worked side-by-side on their farm and they felt blessed to always have good neighbors.

She enjoyed trout fishing, deer hunting and working in her garden. She attended the Evans Church of God.

Survivors include her sons, Roger Garnes (Betsy Biddle) of Ripley and Rodney Garnes (Andrea) of Parkersburg; grandson, Robert; sisters, Betty Gandee of Evans, Hazel Thomas (Carl) of Ravenswood and Illegene Young of Winfield and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday June 5, 2021 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with Pastor Steve Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in the Foster Chapel Cemetery, Evans. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.
