Gilbert Creed Hartley, 82, of Ripley, passed away August 11, 2021, at Ravenswood Village, following a brief illness.

He was born December 31, 1938, in Gay, a son of the late Oscar and Virginia (Whited) Hartley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou (Wheeler) Hartley; infant son, Eugene Hartley; brother, Ray Hartley, and sisters, Maxine Nichols and Helen Wheeler.
Gilbert was a farmer and was self-employed in the lawn care business.

Survivors include his sister, Madeline Young of Spencer, WV and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV with Pastor S.R. Parsons, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gay, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
