Grant Clay Barker, 72, of Ripley, WV, formerly of Ravenswood, WV, passed away, Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in Hubbard Hospice-House, Charleston, WV, of pancreatic cancer.

He was born December 3, 1951, in Curry, WV, Logan County,  the third son of Winfred and Virginia Lee (Workman) Barker, both of whom preceded him in death.

Grant graduated from Ravenswood High School, a member of the class of 1969. He was a graduate of Lynchburg Baptist College, Lynchburg, VA, with a degree in Theology. He later was a Ravenswood City Policeman and then became a Registered Nurse. He enjoyed playing golf, tinkering and motorcycles.

Grant is survived by three children, Grant Clay Barker Jr, Valicity Barker of Newark, OH and Demetria Smith of Ravenswood, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Michael W. (Donna) Barker, of Vienna, WV, and Patrick L. (Karen) Barker of Ravenswood, WV; Aunt, Margaret Workman (Bill) West of Gallipolis, OH, and friend Linda Taylor of VA; many loving cousins and friends; three cats, Peepers, Kitty Boy, and Perseus, who will miss him greatly.

A visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV. A private burial will be Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in Ravenswood Cemetery.
