Grant E. Donohew, 91, of Evans, WV, passed away July 23, 2024, in Ripley, WV, following a brief illness.

He was born April 7, 1933, in Evans, WV, a son of the late Ernie Denver and Daisy Violet (Barr) Donohew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Naomi R. (Winter) Donohew; son, Grant E. "General" Donohew Jr.; daughter, Pamela Crihfield; brothers, Kenneth and Wilbur Donohew; sisters, Lillian Hoschar and Vesta Livingston.

Grant was a 1951 graduate of Ripley High School, and was a United States Army, 101st Airborne, Korean War veteran. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Ripley Lodge #16 AF & AM and he was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed golf, poker, traveling, spending time with his family and was a car enthusiast.

Survivors include his son Nathan (Staci) Donohew of Evans; daughters, Teresa (Gary) Roark of Evans, and Julia Donohew of Ripley; brother, Carroll (Louise) Donohew of Evans; sister, Christina King of Ripley; grandchildren, Jillian (Brian) Hamon, Justin (Kelsey) Roark, Adrienne (Matt) Fratczak, Charity (Dale) Smith, Ben (Chastity) Crihfield, Michael (Rachel) Samples, Jacob (Mary) Samples, Nate (Bailey) Donohew II, Jade (Nathan) Tucker, Izabella (Lane) Casto, and Gatlin Donohew; great grandchildren, Bryce, Sophie, Levi, Colton, Jonah, Solomon, Naomi, Celia, Ruby, Briar, Daniel, Huck, Halle, Sheperd, Noah, Gavin, Lily, Annabelle, Juliet, Grayson, Beau, Lincoln, Makaden, and Micaiah.

Service will be 1 p.m., August 3, 2024, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Jacob Samples officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by VFW Post #9926 Mason, WV and American Legion Post #140 New Haven, WV will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, WV. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time-of-service Saturday at the funeral home.
