Helen Joyce (West) Young, 94, of Ravenswood, WV, (Flatwoods community), passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at her home, following an extended illness.

She was born, October 17, 1930 in Spencer, WV, a daughter of the late Willie and Ivy Pearl (Jones) West.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Young, stepson James Alan Young, and sister Mary Umstead.

Helen retired from Kaiser Aluminum as a data entry clerk with 30 plus years of service. She was a member of Independent Fellowship Church, Ravenswood, WV. She enjoyed reading, traveling and bird watching.

Survivors include her son, Benny Cummings of Spencer, WV; stepson, Randy Young, of Ravenswood; 9 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Independent Fellowship Church, Ravenswood, WV, with Mike Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Ravenswood Cemetery, Ravenswood, WV. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service Saturday, at the church.
