James C. "Butch" Christian , 72, of Cottageville, WV, passed away June 2, 2023 in Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV.

He was born May 9, 1951, in Beckley, WV, a son of the late Clarence Edgar and Betty Jean (Spangler) Christian. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Laura Louise (Donohew) Christian; sister, Delores Louise Christian; brother-in-law, Carl Donohew.

He was a 1970 graduate of Ripley High School. He was a former mechanic for Cedar Coal, Cedar Grove, WV and a member of the United Mine Workers Union. He was a former truck driver and retired from Constellium, Ravenswood, WV. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local # 5668 Ravenswood, WV. He enjoyed mechanic work and riding his Harley Davison motorcycle.

Survivors include his children Amy (Matthew) Anderson of Sandyville and Tina (Nathan) Jones of Cottageville; grandchildren, Bradley Anderson and Grace Jones; sister, Jennifer (Barry Hudnall) Christian of Evans; brother-in-law Dennis "Buck" (Kelly) Donohew; sisters in law, Lola (Eugene) Prunty and Bonnie French; several nieces and nephews. Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, WV. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
