James Wesley Morrison, 91,of Winfield, WV, left for his homecoming in Heaven July 15, 2022, at his home following a brief illness.

He was born May 19, 1931, in Rock Castle, WV, a son of the late Jesse Vernon and Dorma Velva (Holland) Morrison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Ennis Morrison; brother, Ralph Ballard; sisters, Macil, Goldie, Flossie, Velma and Aulene.

He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving seven years with the military police. He worked many different jobs for 46 years but retired from Charleston Area Medical Center in 1994. Wes was a devoted Christian and longed for the day he would be with his savior. A crown of righteousness awaited him through Jesus Christ our Lord. He was a member of the Hometown Independent Mission Church, Winfield, WV.

Wes married his childhood sweetheart, Ennis Hill, January 9, 1951. They were married 55 years, 4 months and 16 days before she went home to be with the Lord.

Survivors include his son, Owens Keith Morrison and his wife Nancy of Bowling Green, KY; granddaughters, Danica, Charessa, Briana and Aralia; great grandchildren, Jaxson, Sadie, Urijah, Isla, L.J., and Abbie with a new great-granddaughter on the way.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Darren Persinger officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery, Rock Castle, WV, with military rites by the Jackson County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time-of-service Wednesday at the funeral home.
