James Rollie Walter, 86, of Sandyville, WV, passed away October 23, 2025 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born February 18, 1939 in LeRoy, WV, a son of the late Aubry Lee and Garnett Bernice (Smith) Walter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Roy Wayne Walter.

He was a graduate of Ravenswood High School. He retired from Pechiney Rolled Products, Ravenswood, WV, with 38 years of service. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local # 5668 Ravenswood. He enjoyed farming and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jim was a member of the Independence United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Barbara Jean (Shenefield) Walter; daughter, Beverly Denise (Richard) Winter of Stuarts Draft, VA; sons, James Eric (Lisa) Walter of Fairfield, VA and James Michael (Joan) Walter of Vienna, WV; brothers, Ronald L. Walter of Ravenswood, WV and Robert D. (Debra) Walter of Palestine, WV; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. ~ Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery, Sandyville, WV. Visitation will be from 12 o'clock noon until service time at the funeral home. In honor of Jim's favorite attire guests may wear their favorite flannel shirt and blue jeans.
