Jerrald Travis
Casto
Mar 6, 1953 — Aug 7, 2026
Ravenswood
Jerrald Travis Casto, 73, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away August 8, 2026 in Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division.
He was born March 6, 1953, a son of the late Raymond Isaac and Margaret Ellen (Lane) Casto. Travis spent his entire life in the Ravenswood Community and was proud to call it home.
For more than 50 years, Travis shared his life with his childhood friend, lifelong love and wife Kathy Lee Casto. Together they built a life centered around family and raised two children, Mendy Ball and Steven of Ravenswood and Rob Casto and Mandy of Milton. Travis was immensely proud of his six grandchildren, Jacob, Jared (Madi) Blake (Braylin), Trinity, Connor and Jake and would gladly spend hours telling anyone who would listen about them and their accomplishments. By all the names he was know by throughout his life, his favorite was simply "P". He was also blessed with his great-granddaughter, Ivy Rose Ball and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another great-granddaughter expected in early November.
The middle of five children, Travis is survived by his siblings, James "Butch" Casto, John (Lee) Casto, Sheila (Jr.) Abels and Kristi (Ronnie) Casto as well as several beloved nieces, nephews and many cherished cousins.
A 1971 graduate of Ravenswood High School Travis maintained friendships that lasted throughout his life. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends and could easily spend hours talking and laughing with them over their weekend luncheons. His strong work ethic began at the age of 16 when he started his career as a meat cutter at Ward's Market. He later continued his trade at Fast-Check and Big R Supermarket in Ripley. He was also employed by Hartley Manufacturing before finishing his career with STAR Plastics. Travis attended the Ravenswood Church of the Nazarene. Over the years he helped coach youth baseball from T-ball through minor league years and could often by found in the stands supporting the Ravenswood Red Devils. He was also a familiar and much loved "Grandpa" at Henry J. Kaiser Elementary School where that special title extended far beyond his own grandchildren.
Above all else Travis loved his family. His greatest pride could be seen whenever he talked about his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The stories told, the games he attended, the hours he spent visiting with friends, and the love he had for his family will remain an important part of the memories he leaves behind.
There will be no public services at this time.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider honoring Grandpa Travis by donating a new pair of shoes for an elementary student in need at Henry J. Kaiser or Fairplain Elementary Schools. A new pair of shoes would be a meaningful way to continue the kindness Travis showed.
Arrangements provided by Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV.
