Joan (Wells) Garrett, 89, of Ripley (Sycamore Creek Community) passed away April 12, 2023 at her home following an extended illness. She was born September 14, 1933, in Ravenswood, WV, a daughter of the late James P. and Edith Faye (Carmichael) Wells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Lee Garrett; brothers, Paul Wells and infant James Wells.

She was retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. She was a Christian and attended the Centennial Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and was member of the Basket Weavers Guild.

Survivors include her son, Dean (Kim) Casto of Fairplain; daughter, Regis (Dexter) Jones of Ripley; brothers, Hank (Bonnie) Wells, John Wells, Ray (Evelyn) Wells, Larry (Patty) Wells, Robert (Debbie) Wells and Randy Wells all of Sandyville; sisters, Eleanor Jewell of Ripley and Edra Ramsey of Sandyville; grandchildren, Adam (Kara) Jones of Ripley, Sonya Jones of Bridgeport, Summer (Sam) Withrow of Fairplain and Lucas (Audra) Casto of Fairplain; eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. ~ Friday, April 14, 2023 in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley, WV, with Pastor Bernard "Bud" McVey officiating. Arrangements provided by Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV.
