John Bernard Casto, 79, of Leon, WV, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024, at home, following an extended illness.

He was born March 31, 1945, in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Bernard Lee and Dorothy Virginia (Skidmore) Casto. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Lee Casto.

John was a proud United States Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 140, New Haven, WV and retired from the Boilermakers Local 667, Charleston, WV. John was a member of the Nemesis Temple Shrine, Parkersburg, WV, Past Master of the Cottageville Lodge #54 AF & AM, and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #16, Cottageville, WV. He was an avid WVU football fan and enjoyed camping and being on the water.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Mirlie (Hall) Casto; children, Jonathan Casto and wife, Cassie of Given, Bernard Casto and wife, Katie of Evans, Carrie Livingston and husband, Ron of Evans; grandchildren, Corbin, Eli, Gavin, Carter, Josh, Mikey, Cora, Carlee, Luke and Lauren.

Service with Military honors will be 12 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Benjamin Riggleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Olive Cemetery, Rock Castle, WV, with Masonic graveside rites by Cottageville Lodge #54 AF & AM. Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2024, also at the funeral home.
