John Edward Thaxton, 75, of Leon, WV, passed away May 3, 2025 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV.

He was born November 17, 1949, in Leon, WV a son of the late Ralph Ree and Jacqueline Ruth (Jones) Thaxton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karissa Thaxton and brother, Dan Thaxton.

John graduated from Point Pleasant High School, held industrial jobs, and worked as a Foreman in a coal mine for many years.

He was an avid reader and also loved fishing, photography, sightseeing. Among all of his hobbies, he loved and adored his family the most.

Survivors include his son, Abel Lewis; daughter, Angela Watkins; grandchildren, Steven Campbell, Eric, John, and Mark Watkins; eight great-grandchildren; and significant other, Kristina Riffle.

Friends and family are invited for John's visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. ~ Friday, May 9, 2025 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV.
