Kyle Mathieu Friend, 29 , of Dunbar, West Virginia, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at his home following a brief illness.

He was born December 5, 1992, in Ripley, WV, a son of Stuart Daniel and Patricia Anne (Mathieu) Friend. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Howard D. Friend, and maternal grandparents, Armand J. and Florence Mathieu.

Kyle was a 2011 graduate of Ravenswood High School and was a cook in the food service industry. He was most recently employed by Walmart of Southridge, Charleston, WV.  He enjoyed acting in plays, Dungeons & Dragons and Pokémon GO, and attending renaissance fairs. He was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sisters, Emily (Dustin) Darr of Ocean Park, WA, and Charissa Marie Friend of Savannah, GA; grandmother Mary Ellen Friend of Ravenswood; nieces and nephews, Tucker, Hadley, and Avery Darr.

Visitation for family and friends will be from  6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2022, at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Alban Arts Center: 65 Olde Main Plaza St. Albans, WV 25177.
