Leona Murrel Jones , 87, of Ripley, WV passed away March 1, 2022 at her home following an extended illness.

She was born January 6, 1935 in Oka, WV the daughter of the late Greely and Ruby (Simons) Truman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughters, Rita and Pamela; brothers, Randall and Ron; sister, Wilma Boggs and a grandson, Denny Paul Perdew.

Leona was a former custodian for the Jackson County Board of Education, a member of AARP and was a Methodist by faith. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, of 65 years, Denzil Edwin Jones; daughter, Karen Tomlin; grandchildren, Melissa McDermott, Amanda McCune and Rodney Tomlin; nine great grandchildren and sisters, Virginia Dye, Loretta Snodgrass, Nina Sanchez and Netta Ruth Harold.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with the Rev. Kelly Snyder officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Committal service and burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the Clover Cemetery, Spencer, WV.
