Leon
At 7:45 a.m., August 4, 2021, Pamela June (Hunt) Matheny departed this life to be welcomed into the gates of Heaven with her Lord saying "well done, thou good and faithful servant".
Pam was a graduate of Pt. Pleasant High School. She was a homemaker, baby sitter, wonderful sister and friend. Her greatest desire was going to church, attending revivals, and listening to her gospel music. Pam attended Longview Community Church and was a very active member.
Pam was born on June 29, 1953, in Gallipolis, Ohio, the oldest daughter to the late Henry Ivan Hunt Sr. and Ora Mae (Durst) Hunt.
She is survived by, and will be greatly missed by, her brothers, Henry Ivan Hunt Jr. (Debbie), Robert Anthony Hunt; and Timothy Lee Hunt (Marsha) all of Leon, WV; sisters Debra Ann Tygrett, and Alice Faye Keefer (Larry). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Pam dearly loved and cherished her church family and they loved her. She will be fondly remembered by and have a special place in the hearts of her many Christian brothers and sisters at Longview Community Church, Evans Church of God and Creston Church.
A funeral service to celebrate Pam's life will be held on August 7, 2021, at Casto Funeral Home in Evans beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Mitchell and Pastor Benjamin Riggleman officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Creston Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being requested in Pam's memory to the Longview Community Church Youth Fund, 1781 Kensey Durst Road, Cottageville, WV 25239.
The family would also like to thank the staff of Davita Dialysis Center in Pt. Pleasant and the staff of the Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehab Center for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Pam during her illness.
