Phillip Gerald Hevener, 66 of South Charleston, WV, formerly of Evans and a former 20-year resident of Inez, KY, passed away April 19, 2023, at Valley Center, South Charleston, following an extended illness.

He was born October 26, 1956, in Elkins, WV, a son of the late Jerl and Charlotte (Sharp) Hevener. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Rosalie Hevener.

Phillip worked in the Kentucky Coalmines with many years of service. He loved helping others in times of need and would freely give the shirt off of his back to help someone. Phillip was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed deer and ginseng hunting. He was Methodist by faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Ann Wray and her husband, Bryan of South Charleston;  sisters, Amber Reed and her husband Charles of Orlando, FL, Sherry Perdew of St. Albans; grandchildren, Cassie (Donnie) Vanway, Corey Vanway, Kristina Vanway; two great grandchildren, Andrew and Brooklyn; step-children, Oscar (Missy) Fuller, Jessica Fuller and multiple step-grandchildren.

Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV followed by a graveside service at Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville.
