Ray Paul
Miller
Feb 16, 1959 — Oct 8, 2026
Leroy
Ray Paul Miller, 67, of LeRoy, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and love.
Born on February 16, 1959, in Jackson County, West Virginia, Ray was the son of the late Herman and Eva Jean Miller.
Ray was the proud owner and operator of Miller Services and Excavating. A hardworking man through and through, he was never one to sit still for long. Whether he was working on equipment, tending to his garden, spending time around the farm, or tinkering in one of his shops, Ray always found something to keep his hands busy. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.
To those who didn't know him well, Ray may have appeared to be a little rough around the edges, but those fortunate enough to truly know him knew he had a heart of gold. Beneath that tough exterior was a man filled with love, kindness, and a willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, never expecting anything in return.
Ray also had a mischievous side and loved nothing more than a good joke or pulling a prank, especially on the kids. His playful spirit, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor brought laughter to countless family gatherings. You never quite knew what Ray might say or do next, but you could almost always count on a good laugh and a memory worth sharing.
Above all else, Ray loved his family. Though he may not have always expressed his love through words, he showed it through his actions, his generosity, and the countless little things he did for those he cared about. His presence was one that could never be replaced, and his love will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Marcella Miller; his son, Rex Miller; his grandson, Ryker Parsons; his sisters, Marilyn Tomlin (Alan) and Jane Hineman; and his brother, Roy Miller.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Martha Wilson (Rick); brothers-in-law, Robert Casto (Sherrie) and Richard Casto (Tonya); and his beloved nieces and nephews, Barry and Debbie Miller, Chris Tomlin, Alicia Fisher, Jeff Tomlin (Kristen), Ben Hineman, Ryan Wilson, Brittany Shamblin (Rodney), William Casto (Tiffani), and Crystal Fletcher (Patrick).
Ray also leaves behind his cherished great-nieces and great-nephews, Rylee, Bryson, and Maddy Tomlin; Vivien, Caroline, and Olivia Fisher; Elise and Sylis Tomlin; Mercy Wilson; Riley and Addie Shamblin; Xavier and Jubliee Casto; Meredith Marks; and Wyatt and Camille Fletcher; along with his great-great-niece, Mariyn Starcher and Julia Hineman.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Casandra Rae Miller and nephew, Ian Hineman.
Ray was truly one of a kind. He was a hardworking man, a devoted husband and father, a loving brother and uncle, a loyal friend, and someone who could bring a smile to your face when you least expected it. His passing leaves a tremendous emptiness in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
A good man was taken far too soon. While his family and friends would give anything for one more laugh, one more story, or even one more of his famous pranks, they will forever treasure the memories he leaves behind.
Ray may be gone from our sight, but the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.
He will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and missed more than words can ever express.
A special thank you goes to Phillip Walker and the crew from IUOE for staying by Ray's side and taking care of him and thank you to Ames Construction Co.
A graveside service honoring Ray's life and legacy will be held at 2:00 p.m on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Sandyville, WV, with Pastor Robert Keen officiating.
