Richard Lee Hayes, 72, of Given, WV, passed away April 29, 2022, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born January 23, 1950, a son of the late Willie Richard and Betty L. (Reese) Hayes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Robyn Gandee; brother, Philip R. Hayes.

He was a graduate of Ripley High School. He was a member of Ripley Lodge # 16 AF & AM. He was a former Coal Mine Superintendent and enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting.

Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda L. (John) Casto of Ripley, Stefanie Hayes of Given and Stacie (Donald) Catalano of Given; brothers, Paul (Katrina) Hayes of Racine, OH, Butch (Merlene) Hayes of Ripley and Tom (Lisa) Hayes of Mount Sterling, KY; sister, Kay (Jim) Utterback of Saint Albans; grandchildren, Joshua, Jaimie, Jordan, Reese, Hayden, Ranse and Bristol; great-grandchildren, Cash, Cruz, Carte, Willow, Trapper and Rowdy.

Service will be 2 p.m. ~ May 2, 2022 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Tim Birthisel officiating. Burial will follow in Given Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Visitation will be from 12 noon until time-of-service Monday at the funeral home. A special thanks to Debbie, Sarah, Tara and Pete with Kanawha Hospice for your care and professionalism.
