Rita Mae Rhodes, 74, of Cottageville, WV, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, in Mountain View Care Center, Ripley, WV, following a brief illness.

She was born April 6, 1950, in Cottageville, WV, a daughter of the late Ada Margaret "Maggie" Hackney.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie K. Hackney, and Paul "Buck" James Hackney.

Rita was a homemaker and loved animals, watching television, and working word search.

She is survived by sisters, Lemmel Hackney of Ripley, Reva Hackney, of Ravenswood, Betty Burgess of Ravenswood, Brenda Bernard of Parkersburg, Jo Ann Goff of Ravenswood, Donna Friend of Mason; brother, Romie Hackney of Sandyville; one special cousin, Ailetta Mae Hartley, who she adored;  She is also survived by Cathy Hartley, Jesse "Jody" William Rhodes, and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Rev. Lyman Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rhodes Family Cemetery. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday, at the funeral home.
