Robert Elliott Matthews Jr., 77, of Evans, WV, passed away October 19, 2024 in Rivers Health Hospital, Point Pleasant, WV, following a brief illness.

He was born March 27, 1947, in Greenville, N.C. a son of the late Robert E. Matthews Sr. and Jean (Evans) Matthews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Bowman.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sandra Lee (Rohrbaugh) Matthews; brother, Gene Matthews.

He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a retired painter, taxidermist and handyman. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed his yearly trips to Illinois and Florida and the many friends he made in both states. Bob, was a good friend, neighbor and hunting buddy to those that knew him. He will be missed and remembered by many who have shared a campfire, fishing boat, deer stand, good sit on the porch, and the Spring turkey woods.
