Ronald Ray McVay, 89, of Ripley, WV passed away October 5, 2026 following a brief illness.

He was born May 17, 1937 in LeRoy, WV to Lloyd and Nellie (Flesher) McVay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Jeanette; brothers, James and Lloyd, Jr. and sister, Freda Carmichael. 

 Ray retired from Ravenswood Aluminum in 1997 after nearly 35 years of service. He had also worked for Carl E. Smith Pipeline and was a member of the construction crew that built Kaiser Aluminum, Ravenswood Works. He was a United States Army veteran and a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union, Local #5668.  

Survivors include his son, Randy and his wife Tammie of Ponte Vedra, FL and his only grandchild and best friend, Breanna of Jacksonville, FL.

Service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with the Rev. Bernard “Bud” McVey officiating. Burial will follow in the Ravenswood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 o’clock noon until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Randy would like to extend his appreciation to Jane and Dale Carney for their loving care and support over the past 13 years. He would also like to acknowledge the excellent care Ray received in his final days by the physicians, nurses and staff at CAMC Memorial, sixth floor, Front Pod A Unit.
