Rossie D. "RD" Parsons, 88, of Ripley, WV, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at home, with family by his side.

He was born September 14, 1935, in Jackson County, WV, a son of the late Moody and Madge (Litton) Parsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Betty Ann (Kay) Parsons; children, Darlene and Larry; brothers, Dewight Parsons, Dana Parsons; sisters, Doreen Thomas, Dorothy Parsons, Sharon Nutter and great grandchild, Brooklyn Rogers.

Rossie was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator with the United Mine Workers and was a faithful member of Faith Fellowship Church in Ripley. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and lending a helping hand to others. Rossie was a carpenter and assisted in the building of many homes. Most of all, he loved his family and being able to spend time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Allen Parsons and wife, Patricia of Fairplain, John Paul Parsons and wife, Ruth of Ripley, Gary Parsons and wife, Carla of Goldtown, Charolette Campbell and husband, Tom of Cottageville, Marlene Herdman of Ripley, Songia Sharp and husband, Junior of Georgetown, GA; brother, Stanley Parsons and wife, Debbie of Spencer; sisters, Sandy Roush of Ravenswood, Delma Miller of Ripley, Doris Mays of Fairplain; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with Pastor Deron Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley. Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the funeral home.
