Ruth Ann (Randolph) Hutchison, 84, of Ripley, WV, passed away November 1, 2024 in Brookdale Charleston Gardens following an extended illness.

She was born August 20, 1940, in Ripley, WV, a daughter of the late Charles Randolph and Wavy (Parsons) Shields. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Rex Hutchison II; sister, Ruby Hicks; brother, Randy Shields.

She was a graduate of Ripley High School, West Virginia University and Morris & Harvey College with a Masters Degree. She taught for the Jackson County Board of Education with 43 years of service. Most of her teaching career was spent at Ripley High School. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society. She was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed shopping and reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Alicia Hutchison of Ripley; brother, Ron Shields of Evans.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. ~ Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Given, WV, with John Gunther officiating. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to: Pleasant Hill Cemetery 814 Statts Mills Road, Ripley, WV 25271.
