Sianiu Sonia Lovejoy passed away peacefully the morning of May 25, 2023, with the love of her family surrounding her. Sonia was born on the Pacific Island of Tutuila, Village of Ili'ili, American Samoa. As a teenager her family moved to California due to her father being transferred to Port Hueneme Navel Base. While attending a dance on the base she met a Navel Seabee that became the love of her life, later marrying him and then moving to his home state, West Virginia, where she spent the remainder of her life loving and carrying for "Swicky" a nickname she gave him meaning Sweetie.

Sonia was an active member of the Evergreen Hills Freewill Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshipping with her friends and singing in the choir. She enjoyed for several years riding motorcycles to many different states with her husband of 56 years. But Sonia's biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren going shopping and attending all of their extracurricular activities and became well known as "Nana".
One of her greatest passions was learning new dances from many Polynesian cultures. She cherished her Samoan heritage and made a very close and loving relationship with her "West Virginia Ohana" (family) that had many different gatherings where she performed these dances with her family.

Sonia was predeceased by her parents, Va'apuli Pa'ileulu and Tuloto (Taua'imulimuli) Moa, along with sisters, Talagi Talanoa and Malele Pa'ileulu Moa, brothers, Pa'ileulu Jr. Moa, Leaslasl Moa, Nu'u P. Moa and Leationio Moaalii.

She will always be loved and on our minds and definitely never forgotten by her husband of 56 years, Carroll "Skip" Lovejoy, only child, Annette Rene' and her husband, Joseph "Packy" Carte, grandchildren, Steven Scott and Jasmine Sianiu Carte, all of Cottageville, WV, sister, Nancy Fiso and husband, Fiso Fiso, of O'ahu, HI, brother, Si'itia Moa, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Brenda Pfost, of Ripley, WV, all of her nieces and nephews, a vast amount of family members and so many friends.

A celebration of her life will be at 12 noon, Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Evergreen Hills Freewill Baptist Church, Cottageville, WV, with Mark Price officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kenna, WV. A visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, and one hour prior to time of service at the church.
