Stephen Spencer Hyre, 71, of Ripley, WV, passed away November 21, 2023 in AdventHealth of Ocala, FL following a brief illness.

He was born September 24, 1952, in Pittsburgh, CA, a son of the late Holly Howard and Beulah M. (Spencer) Hyre. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Frances Sciandra.

He was a former Army National Guard Reservist and Air Force Reservist. He had received his Masters Degree and was a C.R.N. Anesthetist. He enjoyed horses, farming, fishing and was an avid pilot.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, N. Carol (Price) Hyre; daughter, Stacy L. Hyre of Ripley; sister, Patricia Ann Balazs of Charleston, WV.

Service will be Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 2:00pm at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery, Kenna, WV. Family and friends may visit from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to the Ripley Volunteer Fire Dept. 337 Main St. Ripley, WV 25271 or the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
