Tivis Eugene Newsome, 66, of Given, WV, passed away June 27, 2026 at his home following a sudden illness.

He was born July 22, 1959 in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Tivis Newsome and Dorothy Jean (Sargent) Hopkins.

He was a graduate of Ripley High School. He was a former employee of the West Virginia Department of Highways he also worked in construction and was an equipment operator. Eugene enjoyed hunting and the outdooors.

In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by his brother, Dana Newsome, sister, Heidi Emody, and brothers-in-law Tom Dailey and Doug Hanes.

He is survived by sisters Patti Hanes and Jenny Dailey, sister-in-law Joy Newsome, brother-in-law Warren Emody, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service honoring Eugene will be held on Friday September 11, 2026, at 6:30 pm at Casto Funeral Home, 157 Evans Road, Evans, WV. With Rev. Jerry Lee Sargent, officiating. The family will be receiving guests from 6:00 pm until the time of service, at the funeral home.  Arrangements provided by Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV.
