William Dean "Bill" Jewell, 85 , of Ripley, WV, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023, at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born January 31, 1938, in Ripley, WV, a son of the late Charles Walter and Maple Norine (Hoge) Jewell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis M. Jewell; brothers, Jim Jewell and Fred Jewell; sisters, Lola Bell (Jewell) Randolph and Marie (Jewell) Delong.

Bill was a United States Navy veteran and a former fabricator and welder with Century Aluminum, Ravenswood, WV with 35 years of service. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #5668 Ravenswood. Bill was industrious and enjoyed working.

Survivors include his son, Charles Stewart Jewell of Ripley; daughters,  Deborah Ann Barr of Washington, PA, Kate Jewell (Brian) of Eighty-Four, PA, Barrie Tracy of NC, and Jenny Barnett (Tony) of Ripley; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Service will be ~ 1 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor Dee Rhodes officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, August 25, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors by the Jackson County Honor Guard will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley, WV following the service Saturday.
